The NIJ IIIA level helmet is based on the PASGT (Personal Armour System Ground Troops Protection System) helmet and is designed to be compatible with night vision and communication devices. It is also lightweight and offers very good hearing and vision.
The helmet has a deep neck cut and a slightly higher side cut than the PASGT to allow for the use of headsets and helmet intercoms.
The RD (Ratchet Dial) system significantly improves the rotational stability of the helmet on the head, which is especially important for mounted NVGs. The wearer can easily adjust the tension of the wires using a dial that controls the harness's girth straps from the back of the head. In addition to the RD system, the carrying system has four quick release buckles that make it easy for the wearer to adjust the helmet's strap tension while the helmet is on the head.
The helmets are all equipped with an NVG mount (mount for night vision devices) on the forehead and rails on the sides. The rails are made of impact-resistant nylon and come with two Picatinny, two Wingloc universal adapters and two goggle clips. In addition, the rails can accommodate a variety of other accessories, such as visor mounts. This helmet is very popular with police and military special forces due to its exceptionally high level of comfort and flexibility under extreme conditions.
